Header Designing is the toughest thing in whole website, your header tells your visitor what is your site about, research says that visitor usually take 8 seconds to decide whether to stay at  website or go away for good, so if your header don’t tell him any story and your headlines not grabing attention of your visitor, than your website don’t give you much success.

For successful website three things are most important,  header graphic, headlines and navigation, so if any of three is weak your website will suffer, lets talk about what you can do to make your header appealing and meaningful to your visitor.

What is the size of your header graphic.

What is the size of your header graphic, is it taking too much place of your web page?, if yes, shortened the size of your header graphic, large header graphic are with lots of colors and images distract the attention.

Using Too Many Or Irrelevant Images in header graphics.

Don’t use just images in your header, write some wording, half wording and half images are good, don’t use any irrelevant image in header just because it looks good, Try to use as much relevant images as you can.

 

Don’t make your header stands out from your website.

 

Make it dissolve with your design, some websites have header which are too appealing that they make other portions ugly, if header is too appealing than make other portions match with your webpage.

 

Make Separate Header for images and company logo.

 

If you want to make graphically appealing header and want to put images with your logo or company name, this is not a good idea, make separate header graphic for your company logo and separate header for images.
